well hello there

another weekend, another afternoon in the park with kate. she's off back to beijing next week, and i'm going to miss our conversations.

a little bit of sun, lots of music, and wine. good saturdays.

the zebra, pelican and puffin pedestrian crossing regulations 1997

hmm. where to begin. geneva. that sounds good. last weekend, waterskiing on the lake.
sunburns and late druken nights.

then there's the allergy siege this week, where between the antihistamines and psm i left my personality on the roadside somewhere and became a frustrated, sniffling, robot. engagments cancelled.

i've been locked inside the world of stephenson's quicksilver - wren and newton's london, the sun king's versailles and a breathtaking fictional cast.

but as i escaped yesterday at 10pm, today was a good time for karan to announce himself into my ear. rishab's floating around somewhere, so jen, kate and i's girls night has gone co-ed.

time for the office again

it'll be long hours this week, and company softball games. a little focus, a few late nights and some missing of the spring evenings.

if there was weather heaven, it would be the last three days of london. cloudless blue saturday, up in the mid 20s but breezy in the shade. spent in the park with mother and kate, and children glowing against the shine of green grass and sun. sunday brought those few clouds, but a warm evening, and a dinner party with the window sashes high and the dinner table candles fluttering in the breeze. more flower petals on the pavements this morning, crushed under my suit heels.

things i've learned this weekend: what a mole of carbon is, where the amazing hidden valley in the north downs is (i'd forgotten the road) while cycling, a maori dance from kate's neice and nephew twins, that birch wine is delicious, how bad my backhand really is in tennis, how linen trousers are really good things to own, and a safe method to shoo bumblebees out of my room and back into the garden where they belong.

rushing past

20 minutes to myself, it's too late to exercise and i canot bear the thought of reading planning law anymore. time to say hello to the void.

my parents are still here, and will be until saturday. i'm happy i can share some of my life with them, give them an idea of how and live and where and what i do... my days and ways. in the same breath they show me a different side of london, one that passes much slower and takes the bus more often instead of walking and needs to eat at regular intervals instead of just waiting for the food that's sitting at home. it's a more challenging city they see.

i'm reading so much law at the moment and summarising it in neat short memos to clients that come 6pm, i just want to talk nonsense and be scatterbrained and enjoy the wind (and the bugs) against my cheeks on the ride home. forget clause xy insert at para 6 to ensure sub point 19.... and relax into the elongating evenings and cool nights. it's still spring yet
